Creve Coeur Race summary

After speaking to the rest of the drivers, it was unanimously agreed that Jimmy would want the race to go on, so go on, it did!  The weather was hot and muggy, the crowds were large and thirsty and the driver's were plenty!  We had 70 boats and 4 personal watercraft.  Of those 50 were pre-registered.  A special thanks to Bill and Twyla Miles of the Krazy Kracker race team for letting us use their camper for registration.  Saturday, there were 3 rounds of qualifying.  Eliminations went off without a hitch.  A moment of silence and a prayer from the Racers for Christ Deacon was held on Sunday afternoon in honor of Jimmy Tucker.  Marty Logan took his first round eliminations legal single run to further honor Jimmy.  Instead of racing down the track, he idled down with his lid open, displaying a Texas flag.

Due to weather conditions in Poplar Bluff, we were unable to hold a 2nd Chance round.  One of our sponsors, Jim Miles Garage, donated $1,200, for 2nd Chance throughout the race season, adding $300 to each 2nd Chance pot.  So the money from Poplar Bluff carried over to Creve Coeur.  As one racer put it at the awards ceremony, "Sometimes it's good to lose"!  With 17 boats in our 2nd Chance plus the additional money from our sponsor, I'm sure Jim Bracewell and Jeff Loyd would agree-it is good lose.

Thank you to all the race winners who generously donated their winnings to the Tucker family.  Money can't ease their pain but it can lighten their load.  You are true winners!

SLDBA hopes for a quick and speedy recovery for Mike Massman.  Take it easy and get well soon!

Additional THANK YOUs go out to the following:

Texas teams--your support is greatly appreciated.

ALL of our Sponsors--without you we could not have put on such a successful race.

Each and Every volunteer, race worker and especially Chris Orf--your sweat was not wasted.

Join us at our next race in Litchfield, IL at Lake Lou Yaeger

August 22nd and 23rd
